The Preston Figure Skating Club has a unique structure that has been part of the organization since the start, "The Team Approach". Skaters and coaches work together to achieve the common goal. We use the strength of the team approach to support each other at competitions and on daily sessions. Our club offers all disciplines - freeskate, dance and pairs. We have programs designed for all levels, including competitive, test, and learn to skate.
Here is an overall list of the programs we offer:
Recreational Program (starts as 3 yrs of age)
- Buddies on Bladies (3 & 4 year olds)
- CanSkate/Learn to Skate Program (5 plus )
- Advance Recreational Program (stage 4 level pre-requisite)
- Adult Learn to Skate Program
StarSkate Program: (known as our regional program)
- Skaters can skate up to 6 days a week
- Once the skaters have passed stage 5 of the CanSkate Program, they can enter into this program.
- Sessions include freeskate (jumps/spins) sessions; skills and dance session & stroking class
- Skaters try evaluated tests and continue to progress through the Skate Canada levels
- Skaters can compete in competitions if they wish
- These classes are held at the Preston Auditorium and/or Karl Homuth Arena
Competitive Program: (known as our Sectional program)
- We offer singles, pairs and dance competitive programs
- Skaters can skate up to 6 days a week. We offer morning and afternoon sessions at Hespeler Arena
- We also offer weekend programs at Preston Aud.
- Sessions include freeskate sessions, stroking, fitness and flexibility classes
